About Ron Morris

Ron headshotAs Chief Operations Officer, Ronald (Ron) Morris leads the operations team at all four of the Food Bank’s branches. He oversees overall operations, including food sourcing and acquisition, warehousing and logistics. Ron joined the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in October 2010 with 20 years of experience in management of multi-site production operations and a variety of experience in distribution and transportation.

Previously, Ron was Senior Manager and Vice President of Eastern Operations for Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. in Broadway for nearly 10 years.  Prior to that, he worked in management for several food processing companies over the span of 17 years, including WLR Foods, Inc. in Broadway, the Butterball Turkey Company in Illinois and Rocco Turkeys in Dayton. In addition, he served more than 14 years in distribution and transportation for Walker Manufacturing in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Halls Motor Transit in Harrisonburg, VA.

Ron received his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from James Madison University. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974. Ron has also served on a number of boards, including the United Way of Harrisonburg, the Blue Ridge Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce of Harrisonburg and the Virginia Poultry Association.

He currently resides in Harrisonburg with his wife, Janet, and son, Jonathan.
