About Nancy Bowman
Nancy Bowman joined the Food Bank in December of 2012, bringing with her more than 35 years of experience in the management of human resources in state and local government.
Prior to joining the Food Bank, Bowman served 11 years as HR Director for the City of Staunton and 12 years as HR Director for the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind. In her previous positions, she was responsible for administering a comprehensive Human Resource program including the areas of classification and compensation, recruitment and retention, performance and evaluation, training and employee relations. She also served as Benefits Administrator, offering a comprehensive program of benefits including health, retirement, workers’ compensation, flexible benefits, life insurance, EAP and deferred compensation.
Bowman has a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s degree from Virginia Tech. She is IPMA-HR CP certified and was awarded the Lifelong Public Service of the Year Award in 2011 presented by James Madison University. She serves as President of the Valley Alliance for Education and is actively involved in the Young Life organization.
